Rains disrupts my schedule

Yesterday (Wednesday July 19 2006) it rained very heavily. I think it started raining somewhere past midnight and when I woke at 6AM, it was still raining very heavily.
I stepped out on the porch and there I saw the road submerged. It was water-logged. Standing on the porch, I was watching the cars go by - splashing water. Water level was rising and people who stay on the ground floor were the worst affected.

I usually start for office around 8AM, yesterday it was just not possible. So I called up another colleague (who stays close by) and asked him how he was planning to go. His reply was that - there was no way we could venture out before the rain stopped or slowed down.

I finally started off at 11:30 Am and the 3 kilometers distance took us 30 minutes to cover. The roads were submerged, and Sector V was totally under water. We were told by the police to take a longer route via Nicco Park, to reach office as the straight road going to office was under knee deep water.

At 12PM, I reached office. The plan was to leave early. At 5PM left office.

This morning while coming to work, I saw the roads of Sector 5. While some water was still there, most of the road had deep potholes.

And it seems the pump that was to be used for draining out the water was not functioning.

Today, it is cloudy. Though I have not seen it rain this morning, it seems like it could rain any moment here. The weather office has predicted rains for the next 48 hours.

Lets wait and watch.

Punctuality

Is that Punctuality just bothers me and others are fine with being non-punctual?
Okay, so I have a rented house and once I had a house, the next step was to fill the house up. I went to Ultadanga - Capital Electronics to shop for TV, Fridge and AC.

I bought the stuff and asked when it would come. "Today by 5 PM" - I was told. At 6 PM I called again, I was told 7 PM, at 7:15 I was told 8 PM. And they finally came at 8:45 PM. And I had to sit and wait for them - I could not go anywhere.
Next day the AC was supposed to come and fix the AC. He surprisingly came in time and he went out to buy wood - "I will be back in 15 minutes", he came back after one and a half hours.

This is happening a lot - people seem to have taken things for granted. Dominos says 30 minutes or free - for their Pizza delivery, shouldnt that be applicable for all
